When the Fear of the Lord Fell: A Transformation at The Assembly

I stood there worshipping the Lord with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Jasmin and I were at The Assembly this past weekend in Atlanta, Georgia.

I remember looking around the large venue throughout the weekend, marveling at how Jesus brought all these people together to fellowship and listen to these messages. There was a unity of the Spirit I had never felt before.

My experience tells me most of the Church would be offended by what was being stewarded during the three days we were together. How did the Lord move all these people to come, gather, and enthusiastically receive the radical call of Jesus?

There was a moment when Wayland Henderson was speaking and he said, “This may mess with your theology.” That statement brought the last six years rushing back to my memory. What Wayland said did not remotely challenge my theology—it perfectly aligned.

Six years ago, the Lord started to impart prophetic dreams and visions to me. He then gave Jasmin and me an assignment that seemed altogether impossible. In 2022, He showed me there would be other workers who would labor beside us. Jesus brought this back to memory many times throughout the weekend.

Here was a room full of these workers!

In 2020, it was just Jasmin and me chatting in our kitchen in Calgary about all that the Lord was saying. Now, here was a room full of people, led by senior leaders who have been building and pioneering over the last five years (and beyond) under the same mandate. They had heard from the Lord, been obedient, and persevered in the radical message of oneness with Christ and His Body—which truly is the essence of the message being stewarded.

I had to give praise to the Lord. I am thankful that He led us to these people, into this room, and into many other rooms over the last three years with those who share the same heart. Jesus is faithful, and He leads His people.

Standing in the Awe of the Lord

I stood there worshipping and felt the fear of the Lord descending. Tears started to well up inside of me as I felt the pain of knowing the many who have refused to submit to the Lordship and glory of Jesus. They refuse the fear of the Lord out of comfort, a desire to keep the peace, and compromise.

Immediately, Natalie Furlong, who was leading worship, addressed this fear of the Lord that was falling. People began falling under the presence of Jesus. Other leaders came on the microphone, succumbing to the fear of the Lord and stewarding what the Holy Spirit was doing.

Jasmin and I remained standing as the majority hit their knees.

I asked the Lord, “I feel the awe and fear; should I be bowing low like everyone else? Why do I feel in my spirit to stay standing?”

I felt the urgency from the Lord to remain standing.

Then came the accusations: “People are going to think you’re rebellious.” “The leaders are ushering everyone to bow low before the Lord—can’t you submit to leadership? Do you have an issue submitting to what the Holy Spirit is doing?”

I checked my heart; none of those things were true. The Lord told me to remain standing.

In my spirit, I asked Him why.

I heard the word of The Sovereign Lord strongly:

I will break the rigid backs of the proud and strengthen the weak backs of straw.”

I saw a picture of what wheat looks like after a storm: trampled, broken, and brought low to the dirt. Then the Lord gave me a picture of a single stalk of straw being made like iron, unbreakable by the wind, rain, hail, snow, and storms. Standing strong under all the forces of hell.

Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.” – Matthew 23:12

The Lord showed me this is what He is doing in the coming days. Jasmin and I have been brought low hundreds of times, crying out on our knees in our home under the magnificent fear and awe of King Jesus. We were to stand in this moment to embody what the Lord is (and will be) doing in His church.

The prideful, arrogant, and foolish will be brought low in the fear of the Lord.

…at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” – Philippians 2:10-11

Jesus will humble those who think they are strong and raise up those who have been willing to lay prostrate in humility before King Jesus.

Taking the Air

Then the Lord Jesus told me Jasmin and I were standing to “Take the air!”

I saw a picture of a WW1 fighter plane over the skies of the Lord’s land, guarding the skies from enemy fighters.

Our enemies will not prevail; they will only collapse and perish in defeat while we will rise up, full of courage.” – Psalms 20:8

Even at a gathering like this, so full of purity, the enemy desires to pervert these Holy moments—to bring division, offense, and mixture.

It is only by the Spirit of the Living God that the land will be defended. It is only by those who will consecrate themselves and allow the Spirit of the Living God to flow through them in intercession and heavenly proclamation that the Church will be guarded from the evil ones.

There is a need for intercessors to “take the air.”

Jasmin and I stood in prophetic solidarity with the fear of the Lord, interceding over the congregation.

When He calls you to weep and call out upon the floor in travail, you must be obedient to weep and wail before Him.

When He instructs you to stand in solidarity, peace, and defense, you must stand boldly.

You must model what He tells you to model. You must stand, sit, kneel, shake, scream, be laid low, be raised high for the Glory of the Lord Jesus!

I bless and thank the Lord Jesus for Rhema and the other leaders within the body of Christ who are modeling submission and purity of the Spirit.

Jesus is moving so powerfully upon the earth. It’s a privilege to be found in that number!

Praise Jesus!
